DIY Hot Cocoa Bar

Anyone else absolutely LOVE a cup of cocoa this time of year?

Ohhhh….something about that warm cozy steaming mug of chocolate that just makes me want to put on my PJ’s and watch the snow come down. Anyone else?!

I’ve put together some tips and tricks to create your own at home Hot Cocoa Bar. With just a few supplies you’ll have yourself an eye catching display that doubles as a tasty little treat!

  • First off, let’s talk about cups. These paper cups are adorable and make taking a cup of cocoa “to-go” a breeze. If you like a “real” mug – I can’t recommend our pottery mugs
enough. I may be a little biased, but I think they’re the best mugs ever. They keep your beverage nice and warm and fit in your hand perfectly. I also really like these handmade mugs.

  • For the toppings, I like to use different size mason jars. I love this set of jars because they come with a chalkboard label, so you can label all your jars! When you add a variety of sizes it adds height and interest to your display. You can use the larger jars for marshmallows while the smaller jars work perfectly for crushed candy canes and toffee bits! To make the jars look more festive, I like to add some baker’s twine.

  • And we can’t forget about the toppings! You can keep it kinda simple and just pick a few of these or you can go all out and do them all!

❄Marshmallows
❄Candy cane bits
❄Crushed toffee
❄Course sea salt
❄Sprinkles
❄Mini chocolate chips and mini white chocolate chips
❄Syrups…peppermint, caramel, strawberry, dark chocolate
❄Whipped cream
❄Crushed Oreos
❄Pirouettes and/or Biscotti

  • And now for the most important part … the cocoa! You can keep it simple and buy cocoa mix or you can use my favorite Hot Cocoa Recipe. Be careful, you may not like any other cocoa after trying this recipe!

The Best Hot Cocoa Ever

❄1.5 cups heavy whipping cream
❄1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
❄6 cups milk
❄1 teaspoon vanilla
❄2 cups milk chocolate chips

Add all ingredients to a crock pot on low for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

A big THANK-YOU to our former employee, Jessica Yoder, for this delicious recipe!

I think I’m going to go make some Hot Cocoa right now! If you try this recipe share below.
