What's there to do while stuck at home? Here’s a few suggestions to help make your time quarantined as calm – and perhaps even as productive – as possible.

  1. Organize, organize, organize. You know all those cupboards and closets you’ve been putting off organizing? NOW is the time to do it! Once you start to purge some items your mind will feel clearer.
  2. Spend time outdoors. There’s nothing quite like fresh air and sunshine. There are numerous studies that show the benefits of being outside. One study suggests that spending 20 minutes in the open air gives your brain an energy boost comparable to one cup of coffee!
  3. Try to stick to a routine as much as possible. It helps us be more efficient and saves time (our most valuable resource!). A routine can also reduce stress which is more important now than ever. Even if your schedule doesn’t allow for a strict routine, small things, like getting up and going to bed at the same time every day can be beneficial.
  4. Try a new recipe and get creative in the kitchen. A sure fire way to please a spouse and/or kids that might be getting a little stir-crazy at home is to try a new recipe. Even better, involve the family! Have a DIY pizza night using Naan bread and the toppings of your choice. Or try your hand at a new tasty dessert.
  5. Take a bath. One of my favorite ways to unwind is a detox bath. I try to take one atleast once a week. My favorite detox bath recipe is:

½ cup apple cider vinegar
½ cup Epsom salt
½ cup diatomaceous earth
¼ cup baking soda
¼ cup bentonite clay
10-15 drops essential oil like Lavender, Eucalyptus, or Tea Tree


Mix together ingredients and then add to a hot bath. I recommend soaking for about 40 minutes to an hour for best results. The first 20 minutes will give your body time to remove toxins from your system while the last 20 to 40 minutes will allow you to absorb the minerals in the water and help you emerge from the bath feeling rejuvenated.
